Fingperprints and Doodles

Making fingerprint and doodle jewellery has got to be one of the most rewarding activities for me. I love to be able to capture such precious memories for people! Our fingerprints are our most unique feature and what better way to capture the essence of someone you love than by capturing that unique print in solid silver? Precious on 2 counts!

I remember my mother leaving her windows unwashed because they contained her grandchildren's smudgy little fingerprints!

This jewellery is by no means limited to children's fingerprints - we can do any size print and they make wonderful gifts for all occasions. It is recommended that babies should be at least 6 months old to get a well defined print.

The process is very simple. If you are local you can come to me and we'll either take a mould of your child's fingerprint or impress the print direclty into the silver clay. Alternatively, you can order a fingerprint moulding kit and make the mould at home and post it back to me with a completed instruction form. Another alternative is to host a fingerprint party with a few friends.

This video shows you how easy it is to take a print using a two part silicon impression pack.

Perhaps you have a budding artist in the family and would like to capture one of their special drawings in silver!

All I would require from you is a simple line drawing (black felt tip on white paper works best). You could post, scan and email or personally hand the drawing to me.

I will engrave this drawing onto a silver disc of your choice, adding the childs' name and other details of your choice.Once again, you are not limited to the designs I have displayed on the site. If you'd like something different and unique get in touch and discuss your ideas with me and together we'll turn it into a piece of special jewellery!

Delivery is generally 14 days from taking or receiving your prints. If there is likely to be a delay this will be communicated to you as soon as possible. Please note that during busy periods, especially in the lead up to Christmas the delivery time could be longer.

Unlike many other fingerprint products, Silverwood uses Sterling silver (.925) as opposed to Fine silver (.999) on cufflinks, keyrings, bracelets and rings, which are items that are subject to greater wear and tear. Sterling silver contains alloys like tin and copper which adds strength to the finished product. Fine silver is 99% pure silver, which is good for people suffering from metal sensitivity, but means that the metal itself is softer.

Legally, we are required to hallmark any silver item that weighs 7.88g and above. Most of the fingerprint jewellery is under this weight and therefore does not need to be hallmarked. If you would prefer for your jewellery to be hallmarked, we can arrange this for you at an extra cost. Please be aware that this will delay the delivery time.
